Social Media in Education

High School

Social Media is a big part of life, not just for you, but for adults too. I would like to know your thoughts on using social media in education? For example, YouTube, Pinterest, Twitter, Google +, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, Tumblr, text messaging and even Facebook! How can teachers use social media in education both inside and outside of school?

FYI:

  1. I am asking each of you to think carefully about the above question.
  2. Please answer with sincerity and thoughtfulness. I as your educator, am working hard to create a curriculum that is encouraging to my students to promote learning in an interesting way.
  3. I encourage you to not only post to my question, but please post to others responses.
  4. Question #3 is not a requirement, but I highly recommended you respond, as the results could benefit you and your fellow classmates.

What Can I Do For Your Education As Your Teacher?

School, Students, Motivation, Education...

FYI:
  1. I encourage every student in all of my classes to post at least once per week.
  2. Posts must be professionally appropriate, no slander, or inappropriate talk or gestures.
  3. Constructive criticism is okay, but carefully think about your words.
  4. Encouragement, collaboration of ideas and cross-curricular blogging is encouraged.
  5. I highly recommend you to involve yourself in other students posts even if they are not in your class. Think of what could be brought to light for you!
  6. In addition, each student must give at least two comprehensive reflective, thoughtful, opinionated, enlightening responses that are at least 5 sentences long to other students post in the forum.
  7. You may start your own topic.
  8. Back up your conversation with resources.
  9. Any questions, please ask.
  10. A Google account is recommended.

How can teachers in today's society create a classroom that is educational, but enjoyable for students where children are motivated to learn and seek to earn good grades no matter what the topic? Please take some time to think about a thoughtful response. Write something of value, something that is meaningful, powerful, intellectual, etc...
