High School Students...
Motivation is a big part of life, not just for you in school, but with everything. It's a trait that can help define who you are and what you accomplish. I would like to know your thoughts on what motivates you to learn in an educational setting? What gives you the drive to do a good job in a school, on a test, on a project. You may apply this to things outside of school too. There is a direct correlation between achievement and motivation whether it be in or outside of school. What can we do as educators to help motivate you?
FYI:
- I am asking each of you to think carefully about the above question.
- Please answer with sincerity and thoughtfulness. I as your educator, am working hard to make learning fun, stimulating and enjoyable for you.
- I encourage you to not only post to my question, but please reblog to at least two others responses. Maybe words of encouragement or discovery.
- Question #3 is not a requirement, but I highly recommended you respond, as the results could benefit you and your fellow classmates.
What motivates me in an educational setting is that i can always learn something new whether it is learning something about computers in school that i never knew or rebuilding an engine in the garage. It helps me figure out what i want to be when i graduate in seven months. I am a tactile learner so i like to build things and work with my hands. I look forward to maybe building a computer this year in my Basic Web Design class, that way i can understand how the components work a little better. Teachers play a big part in motivation by always pushing me to do my best and helping me out when i need it. I also like working independently sometimes so i can possibly figure the problem out my self until i can not figure it out.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of learning and the fact that you are motivated to learn new skills and knowledge is wonderful. Keep it up! Knowledge truly is power in so many ways. It great to know that you recognize what works for you, that's a great first step in success. A game plan, understanding yourself, etc...
DeleteMotivation is a big part in my life because it helps me accomplish different things. Education helps me with succeeding in school so i can go to college and have my own house. I want to be something in life and i want a good job or a good life. I want people to look up at me and see that i'm helpful and a somebody. I wanted to show everyone who put me down and said i couldn't do it and showed them i could. I want to make my family proud by graduation and being a better person.
ReplyDeleteAccomplishment is difficult without a driving force. Goals are dreams are a good thing and its nice to see that you recognize the fact that you need a good education and a solid foundation to achieve them. A very nice & thoughtful response, thanks!
Deletemotivation is a big key part in my life whether or not its for education purposes. For example I make myself a better person. I always wanted to be someone who has a great life and a great job, I came too realize that many of my motivators are the people around me who push me too do my best.
ReplyDeleteTo better oneself... awesome. There's nothing wrong with aspiring to have a nice life. Recognizing the influence others have on your life is important too. Thank you for your response.

DeleteMy entire life is based around motivation. If I didn't have the motivation I have everyday I wouldn't be where I am, who I am as a person, or have all I own today. Some days I'm not as motivated as other days but still motivated everyday of my life. I am motivated to make a good name for myself that I can be proud of. I have a big pride and having a good, hardworking name for myself is very important. I see people everyday that are not motivated at all and that for me is a HUGE wake up call to keep on the track I am because I don't want to be like them or have the reputation they have. I want big things for myself and I have a lot of goals I work everyday at achieving. All thanks to motivation to be somebody! By having the motivation I have I am setting goals and reaching them in a good amount of time. I'm also reaching goals most kids my age aren't reaching or setting and a lot of kids older than me are not reaching or setting for themselves as well. I take pride in all I've accomplished and all I continue to accomplish all based around my motivation in life.
ReplyDeleteYou see with motivation, comes responsibility, respect, integrity, etc... You will continue to grow in your maturity and you will experience plenty of good and bad in life. Remember, there is good to come from everything. There are lessons to be learned. You can be a wonderful influence, role-model, leader, parent, sibling, teacher, etc... to all you come in contact with. Actions speak louder than words. Value your knowledge, family, self and life! Good luck :-)
DeleteMotivation is a big part of life. It makes you strive to become better in anything that you do. If I do great on a test, it makes me feel good and makes me want to keep up the good work. Motivation should make you a better person because you will aways want to do better. Teachers can motivate me by telling me I can do it, and never giving up on me.
ReplyDeleteMy motivation comes from my parents and just my whole family. They all push me to work hard and constantly remind me that school is very important and should be taken very seriously. Good grades are very important. Not only do they motivate me through school but in trail running as well and many other things. My motivation comes primarily from my family.
ReplyDeleteMy motivation and drive come from my past and people I don't want to be like. I've met many uneducated people in my life and i don't want to be anywhere close to that. Knowledge is the main thing in life I want. I want to be able to do anything and experience so many things. But for me to do it I need to be educated.
