Decision-Making

Decision-Making

High/Middle School Students

FYI:
  1. Every student in the class must post.
  2. Posts must be (5) five or more complete sentences.
  3. You must give a (reflective, thoughtful, opinionated, enlightening) response to one other students post in the forum.

Decision-Making is an everyday, lifelong process and skill that you learn and should become proficient in... Porficient in decision-making? Yes, proficient in healthy decision-making! How does this happen? Through education, through your parents or guardians, through those you look up to, through life's experiences. The Decision-making process is a skill learned and developed over a lifetime. All-in-all there is roughly a six step process you should go through before making a decision on anything. What are these steps?
  1. Identify the Situation
  2. List the Options
  3. Weight the Outcomes
  4. Evaluate the Values associated with the Outcomes
  5. Act on the Decision
  6. Evaluate your Decision for next time
* Google the Decision-Making Model / Skill / Process for more in depth information.
Please write me a reflective response with the above criteria on how this skills is a very important cognitive process in your life, your friends life and those around you. How does a lack of DM affect others? How does it affect society? Could a lack of a thoughtful decision-making process lead to unintentional injury or death? Do our actions have recourse or consequence? Do our actions have rewards? You get the point!

  1. I think it is very helpful to use the decision making steps as a part of your daily life. Many people may not use it because it has 5 different steps. You don't have to use the decision making steps on every little thing you do. Although most things you do, using the decision making steps is very very helpful. I think many people should take the decision making steps into consideration.

  2. I do think it is a great idea to use the "decision making steps" while making your decisions. If you use the decision making process, it will be less likely to make bad decisions. Nobody likes to make bad decisions, so why not be thoughtful when it comes to making your decisions?

  3. Using your decision making process is very important in your life. It effects not only you, but also the people around you. A lack of DM causes others to make bad decisions and do stupid things. It effects society because kids start doing something stupid without thinking and then a bunch of other kids start doing it. A lack of a thoughtful decision making process could lead to unintentional injury or death. You don't think throughly about what you're doing and you don't go through all of the 7 steps in the process. Our actions do have consequences. If you make a bad decision like violating the law, there could be bad consequences. Our actions also can have rewards if we do something good.

    3. I 100% agree with Aaliyah. Because of the fact that people do not think through what they are about to dd could maybe even ruin your life! I really believe that people should take this more into consideration, and even when we are leaning about it in school take it seriously.

  4. It is best to make the best decisions which could change your life now and i the future. Each step really puts your life in a handy situation, but is not a very high importance because life is decided on your living and reactions.

  6. The decision making process is important in everyday life because you face decisions everyday. The choices you make ,no matter how big or small, effect you and the ones around you.If you don't use the DM process in some way your outcomes might not come out how you would want. This could affect society because other people might not make good decisions and that would affect others lives in a negative way.It could lead to injury or death because they don't think their plans through before they do them and could get hurt. All actions and choices have consequences. Before you make a decision make sure you use DM process.

  7. The decision making process is a very thought out process which people should use more. When feeling stressed i often make mistakes but by thinking and using the decision making process i can make well thought out decisions. This lack of good decision making skills is hurting not only the one making the decision but the people close to that person. Society is also being harmed with this lack of good decisions. So in conclusion the decision making process is very helpful in making decisions.

  9. Using a decision making process is very important in our life just in general. No matter is you use the model shown above or one a little different, you should always go through most of the steps. Say you are driving your friends around town at night. One of your friends offers you a beer... Do you take it? You should be thinking about all the possible outcomes to this... You could get drunk? Wreak into another car? Or even drive off the side of the road and get arrested. See? This effects everyone. Family, friends, or even just normal people that meant no harm. Doing without a thought can lead to injuries or death. Please always try to think before you act. Sometimes you have to shorten your process in quick thinking, but always make sure you are certain it wont end badly.

  10. People should use this a lot more then they do. In the end it helps you because you made the good decision before and might of been hard then but it will make it easier later in life. That is why I think that people should use the decision making progress more in your life.
