High School Students
FYI:- Every student in the class must post.
- Posts must be (5) five or more complete sentences.
- You must give a (reflective, thoughtful, opinionated, enlightening) response to one other students post in the forum.
What characteristics, traits, qualities do you admire in a teacher? What turns you off? Do not respond based on a class topic, but more so on what constitutes a good teacher in your eyes. Remember you are in school to learn and its our job to do so. Your education is so very important to you and us. Yes, us, I do care about you guys and I would not be a teacher if I did not. Nor would I drive 45 minutes to work everyday if I didn't care. I would like to use your responses to help myself become a better teacher for you! Have a great school year. :-)

DeleteI agree Kate. A teacher should be fun. They should be interesting and want to teach their students, not just be there for the paycheck and summers off.

DeleteGood qualities in a teacher for me would be that the teacher is respectful of his/her students. A teacher who has a good sense of humor, can take a joke, and can joke around with their students. Being willing to help their students is a big part too.

ReplyDeleteI like a teacher who isnt all sexist and such, ive met some people and it goes either way with women having easier ways through life. Nowadays it should be everyone treated equal and how they want to be treated, but we can have what we want always. I want a teacher who cares and isnt too clingy with there kids but good enough to have a conversation with and takes a joke. Teacher have a tendency to have a little too much power and getting kids into trouble whether they did it or not, and i understand that you dont know there life and you dont know that. A good defined teahcer has great personality, trys to keep happy everyday(its a struggle though) but atleast if you are bad dont get moody and ruin and bully others, been there done that. Teacher are first apperence thats how i think of that teacher, so comme prepared to teach and learn simple, thats how i think a teachers characteristics and traits they should have. Lastly, just an organized, on time, well being teacher we ca rely on and vice-verse.

DeleteI think an influential teacher should make the topic they are talking about, very interesting. They also need to be fluent so you can understand it easier. I like how teachers push us but if the students dont understand it, its still hard for us and we need to be taught better. It is also easier when the teachers have everything they need organized. Teachers also need to give a little quiz before and actual test so he can see if they know it well or not. I think it is very helpful when teachers are influencial.

DeleteI like a teacher who is motivating, fun, kind, smart, understanding, also laid back, but not too much. I am not asking for a teacher to be my best friend, but I am asking for a teacher to make things enjoyable, but also serious when things have to be. I like when teachers are motivating & understanding. I don't always like all my teachers, but I try.

ReplyDeleteI really like a teacher who likes to get right into working, but likes to have fun when the fun is necessary. I like a teacher who can joke around with you & someone who is fun to be around. I like teachers who are optimistic & are always positive about everything. I like teachers who are always in a good mood & they give help when it's needed. I like a teacher who is organized because you don't want to go into the classroom & wait about 10 minutes waiting for a teacher to find the work that they printed off for you. Lastly, just like students have to come to class prepared, teachers should be prepared for their next class.
ReplyDeleteGood qualities in a teacher... This may take a while. A teacher should be fun and be able to take jokes and other sort if things, yet they should be trying to find a way to teach us the material at hand. He/she should also not get carried away and let the students be loud and un called for, so keeping the kids under control and quiet whne other people are doing work. Many teachers I have witnessed do not really teach us the material fully. Everyone has a different learning style and teachers should care about that. Some people remember more by writing and doing it first hand than just reading a packet or book. They should also be ready to teach and h=be happy about it. The more ethusiastic the teachers are, the more their students are eager and happy to be learning the topic. So, honestly, these are just a few qualities I believe a teacher should have.

DeleteI like teachers who actually can understand us teenagers. i also like when teachers are laid back. that makes you excited for the class. I like it when the teacher can explain things and doesn't just expect us to know things. i also like it when you can have fun and joke with the teacher.

DeleteI think a good teacher to have is one that doesn't believe in stereotypes. One that treats his students with respect. I also like teachers that can joke around with their students as well as teach them. I like teachers that can teach the students in a way they can fully understand. I feel that teachers should treat their students like adults instead of small children. I like it when teachers are not to strict and give the students some free time to work on something else. Every teacher is different and they might not all be like that, but this is just what I think are good traits for a teacher.

DeleteMy idea of a good teacher is one who treats every student equally & with respect. I like teacher who is not too strict & likes to have fun, but when needed to be strict they are. I like a motivating teacher, one who pushes me to do better. I like one who is nice. I also like when a teacher is a little laid back, so I can joke with them. & of course I like a smart teacher.
ReplyDeleteSome characteristics that I admire in a teacher is if they are motivated,kind, helpful,and respectful. I like a teacher who wants the students to learn and really understand the subject. They'll be able to understand that not all students learn at the same rate or in the same way. They'll be nice to the students without treating anyone better than others. Somethings that I don't like in a teacher is if give you work just to pass a test, they teach just enough so you can get the basics done but you don't really learn.Those are some traits that I admire in teachers.
