High School Students
FYI:- Every student in the class must post.
- Posts must be (5) five or more complete sentences.
- You must give a (reflective, thoughtful, opinionated, enlightening) response to one other students post in the forum.
Twitter is a neat social media site that uses hashtags, short text and graphics to communicate just about anything. It truly does have a great educational purpose. In fact, it was first intended for that reason. Give me your personal thoughts on Twitter in education, Twitter for your own personal use and Twitter in the workforce. My thoughts on twitter is that we don't need it for educational purposes. I believe that twitter is like facebook, its for socializing with friends or family and used for outside school activities. Many teachers say using phones in class is unacceptable so why use social media or websites like twitter in class.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Brook, I don't think we should use twitter for educational purposes. I think that is just for friends to communicate and get to say what they want. Different websites shouldn't be for school but others are acceptable.

DeleteI agree with Brooke. Twitter can be a major distraction just like Facebook. It isn't used for educational purposes anymore. It's used to chat and socialize. I don't see how you could use Twitter for educational purposes.
DeleteI agree Brook. Twitter isn't exactly educational anymore. When I get on Twitter all that I really see is what is trending at the moment. I normally don't see anything that educational. Every once in a while I see a DIY or something informational. I personally like Twitter, but I don't really think it should be used for educational purposes.

ReplyDeleteTwitter is a very addicting website that I must admit- I use all the time. It can be used in many positive and negative ways, the negative obviously being when you overuse the site. Focusing on the positive, you can use Twitter to increase and help your education, for personal blogging, and for advertising for your work. If you search any hashtag, a ton of different tweets about the subject will come up including articles, photos, and more. For personal uses, in your free time you can just scroll through and see the trending posts and tags which always provide a variety of entertaining subjects for different people. One way that Twitter and many other social media websites are used for today, is advertising. Most every models, actors, singers, etc. have social media websites where they promote themselves and their most current project. With everyone so plugged in to the internet world, it's a great way to do so! I definitely think Twitter can be beneficial.

DeleteI use twitter and it is a useful source where i stay up to date with many different accounts. You can reply re-tweet to get the word across without re-typing. Leave likes and favorites to show you really look at. I think it is very addictive and something famous people use to get up to get up to date with the latest weather and social environmenal updates.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to twitter, what what i can tell you about its good and bad uses is this. Twitter can be helpful for education because to can look up anything you need and get different people asking, and answering the same questions as you. You can connect with new people and people you already know and follow to stay in touch. However, twitter can be addictive to some. If you get too wrapped up into it and all its glory it has to offer, it could become the only thing to put your focus to and slack in other areas of your life that should have more of you time.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you Bridget! Twitter is such a great tool for every day life. I can literally do anything. I am fairly new to this website as well but I have used it as a classroom tool a few years ago so I know the basics.

ReplyDeleteTo be honest i really dont like twitter because it has so many 3rd party apps that try to mimic what twitter can do. Sure its a social media that half the worlds population uses but it was meant for education so thats what it should be for but of course you always have the people that post vulgar things on twitter but thats how it is. I only had a twitter once a deleted it after i used it for 5 minutes.
